The Village of Port Williams believes that volunteers are an integral and significant part of life in our Village. Our Volunteer Award Program was initiated in 1995 by the Village Commission in memory of the late Harold B. Legge who served the Village as a Commissioner so faithfully for more than sixteen years. In 2009 our Program became associated with the Provincial Volunteer Award Program which is sponsored by Recreation Nova Scotia.

Looking at the nominations is a wonderful example of how the volunteers in our community have made a difference, provided leadership and made incredible role models in our Village. Organizations and individuals are encouraged to make nominations. The form can be picked up at the Village. All the Volunteers nominated will be formally recognized at the Village’s Annual Meeting in June; however, only one of the Volunteers nominated will represent the Village at the Annual Provincial Awards Ceremony hosted by the Province of Nova Scotia.
